LEGO Brick Challenge

LEGOsCome and challenge your creativity to design a specific LEGO structure on Tuesday, July 18th from 3:30 – 4:15pm! The presenter will provide an engineering objective for each participant. This event is limited to 30 participants and is geared for students going into 1st-6th grade in September. Sign-up is required.

It Looked Like – Story Hour with Rebecca

Learn in Motion

Come PlayJoin us for a special Learn in Motion event at the library on Monday, July 31st from 5 – 5:45pm. LEARN IN MOTION is an educational and movement-based program that gets kids active, learning, socializing, and practicing important life skills such as SHARING, LISTENING, FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS, WORKING AS A TEAM, AND OVERCOMING OBSTACLES. This event is geered for children ages 3-10. Space limited to 20 participants– sign up at the library– this is an outdoor event. (rain date Monday, August 7th)

Captain Hook & His Bookaneers Summer Reading Program!

Aaaaargh you ready for some summer reading fun? Join the 2017 Summer Reading Program at the Brimfield Public Library! This summer, our resident betta fish, Captain Hook, will be overseeing the program and leading kids on a pirate adventure. The official kick off date is our Mobile Mini Golf event on Wednesday, June 28th, but children are welcome to stop by the library at any time to sign up. Read some books this summer and get some great pirate-themed prizes! And the more you read, the better your chances of winning our Big E tickets to be raffled off at the end of the summer!

Rockin’ Story Hour with Bonnie

Start your summer off with a ‘rockin’ good time! Join us for a special story hour on Thursday, June 29th from 4:15-5pm with Bonnie. We will provide the medium sized rocks and you will provide your artistic ability! The library wants to create a beautiful rock garden as a part of our gorgeous landscape and we thought who better to help us than our story hour friends…the rocks will remain at the library.

Page Turners Book Club

Pastel Painting with Greg Maichack

Award-winning pastel artist Gregory John Maichack returns to the Brimfield Public Library from 5:30 -7:30p.m. on Thursday, May 25th to present his new adult workshop titled, “Pastel Paint the $44-Million Flower.” This fun pastel painting workshop is designed for patrons from beginners to experienced artists.

Participants will experiment with hundreds of the artist’s professional grade pastels, pastel pencils, and pastel paper. All materials will be provided, and everyone who attends will get to take home his/her artwork.

Maichack is an experienced professional at teaching pastel techniques, as recognized by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), and hundreds of libraries and local cultural councils.

Seating is limited, so registration is required. Call 413-245-3518 or sign-up on Facebook! There is no charge to attend. This event is for particpants aged 15 and older.

Earth Day Story Hour

Join us on Wednesday, April 26th from 4:15pm – 5:15pm for an Earth Day story hour! We will be reading a The Frightened Frog: An Environmental Tale with the Southbridge Garden Club and working on creating our own frog habitats by painting terra cotta pots. This story hour is for children ages 5-10 and limited to 12 participants. Sign up at the library or by contacting us!

Ukelele Edu-Concert

Ukuleles

Join us for a Ukelele Workshop at the library on April 11th from 6-7pm. You can bring a ukulele or borrow one at the show. This show is for patrons aged 10 and older and is limited to 15 participants – call the Library at 245-3518 to reserve a spot or sign-up on Facebook.

You can play and sing along to pop, rock ’n’ roll, children’s songs & more and learn about ukulele types and playing techniques. This event is led by teacher/musician/comedian Dave M.
