Guess what we are doing at the BPL?! A Seed Saving Program! All you have to do is come in take out a few seed varieties, plant them, cultivate them, enjoy the fruits of your labor and at the end of the season harvest the seeds and return them to the library for others to use next year. Who’s interested?!

Snowflake Glitter Slime Story Hour

Join us for a special winter story hour with Bonnie on Wednesday, January 24th from 4:15 – 5pm! We will be reading snowmen books, making sparkly slime to take home and a special treat to eat! Please let us know if your child is allergic to Borax or any item found in sugar cookies, frosting, chocolate chips, pretzels or marshmallows. This event is limited to 12 participants ages 3-10. Earl Rhoades: Art Show

Join us on Monday, January 22nd at 6pm for local artist, Earl Rhoades, as he presents his gorgeous artwork for all to see. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Brimfield Public Library, Inc. Overflow parking is available at the Town Hall Annex. Light refreshments will be served.

Henry David Thoreau Community Read and Quote Walk

In honor of the bicentennial of Henry David Thoreau’s birth, we are hosting a Community Read of the book Thoreau on Freedom: Selected Writings of Henry David Thoreau during the month of November and will have a book discussion on November 28th from 6:30-7:30pm. Food and beverages will be provided. A limited supply of free copies of the book are available at the library – stop by to pick yours up!

Also, during the entire month, stop by the library to go on our Thoreau Quote Walk. Walk through the library to find some of Thoreau’s inspirational quotes on our walls and read our informational bulletin board on one of Massachusetts’ most famous writers.

Harvest Fest 2017

Join us for Harvest Fest 2017 on Thursday, October 26th from 5:30 – 7:00pm. This event is geared towards children in grades Pre-K — 6th. Costumes are optional. Space is limited so call 413-245-3518 or reply on the Facebook event to sign up. Please let us know the names and ages of the children and how many adults will be attending along with them. This is a free event sponsored by the Friends of the Brimfield Public Lirary, Inc. Hope you can make it!

3rd Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest

We are looking for families to participate in our 3rd annual pumpkin decorating contest. Buy a pumpkin, carve it, paint it, dress it up like your favorite cartoon character… whatever you like, the possibilities are endless! Drop off your completed pumpkin to the library anytime between Saturday October 21st and Wednesday October 25th. Voting takes place on Thursday October 26th at Harvest Fest. A prize will be awarded for the winning pumpkin. You don’t need to be present to win.
