Aaaaargh you ready for some summer reading fun? Join the 2017 Summer Reading Program at the Brimfield Public Library! This summer, our resident betta fish, Captain Hook, will be overseeing the program and leading kids on a pirate adventure. The official kick off date is our Mobile Mini Golf event on Wednesday, June 28th, but children are welcome to stop by the library at any time to sign up. Read some books this summer and get some great pirate-themed prizes! And the more you read, the better your chances of winning our Big E tickets to be raffled off at the end of the summer!

Start your summer off with a ‘rockin’ good time! Join us for a special story hour on Thursday, June 29th from 4:15-5pm with Bonnie. We will provide the medium sized rocks and you will provide your artistic ability! The library wants to create a beautiful rock garden as a part of our gorgeous landscape and we thought who better to help us than our story hour friends…the rocks will remain at the library.
Please remember to park next door at the Town Hall Annex if our parking lot is full!
Looking for a book club to join? The Page Turners Book club reads popular fiction and other genres. They meet the 2nd Monday of the month from 6 – 7:30pm. If you’re interested in signing up for the Page Turners Book Club or want to see the current book selection, please contact the library or stop in. Award-winning pastel artist Gregory John Maichack returns to the Brimfield Public Library from 5:30 -7:30p.m. on Thursday, May 25th to present his new adult workshop titled, “Pastel Paint the $44-Million Flower.” This fun pastel painting workshop is designed for patrons from beginners to experienced artists.
Participants will experiment with hundreds of the artist’s professional grade pastels, pastel pencils, and pastel paper. All materials will be provided, and everyone who attends will get to take home his/her artwork.
Maichack is an experienced professional at teaching pastel techniques, as recognized by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), and hundreds of libraries and local cultural councils.

Join us on Wednesday, April 26th from 4:15pm – 5:15pm for an Earth Day story hour! We will be reading a The Frightened Frog: An Environmental Tale with the Southbridge Garden Club and working on creating our own frog habitats by painting terra cotta pots. This story hour is for children ages 5-10 and limited to 12 participants. Sign up at the library or by contacting us!
Join us for a Ukelele Workshop at the library on April 11th from 6-7pm. You can bring a ukulele or borrow one at the show. This show is for patrons aged 10 and older and is limited to 15 participants – call the Library at 245-3518 to reserve a spot or sign-up on Facebook.
You can play and sing along to pop, rock ’n’ roll, children’s songs & more and learn about ukulele types and playing techniques. This event is led by teacher/musician/comedian Dave M.

Join us for a special Easter Egg decorating story hour with Bonnie on Wednesday, March 29th from 4:15pm – 5pm. This event is for children aged 3-10 and space is limited to 12 particpants. Join us on Wednesday, February 22nd from 3pm – 4pm for a special ‘Stone Soup’ Story Hour! We will be reading the story and making stone soup to try. The stone, the pot and the both will be provided but we need each of you to bring an item to go into the soup– just like in the story! When signing up please let us know which vegetable(s) that you are going to bring. The items needed are listed below (some need to be cooked at home). We will also be making a craft. This story hour is for children aged 3-10 and space is limited to 12 participants.

1 cup of cooked broccoli
1 cup of diced onion
1 cup of corn (frozen or canned)

4 minced garlic cloves

1 box of Saltine crackers
(there are 12 items listed so please bring 2 items if you are signing up 2 children, 3 if you are bringing 3, etc.)
