Argh You Ready To Read?! – 2021 Summer Reading Program

Our 2021 Summer Reading Program kicks off tomorrow and our theme this year is ‘Argh’ You Ready to Read?!
 
Children and teens are welcome to participate. Children ages 3-12, and teens ages 13-18 can sign up and collect their reading logs/bingo cards at the front desk. Children and teens will receive prizes as they complete their reading logs. Sign-ups for summer reading close on July 21st so you have plenty of time to join in on the fun before you have to walk the plank!
 
The final day to collect your summer reading prizes is Wednesday, September 22nd!

In-Library Appointments Beginning May 5th

We are delighted to announce that we will be open for appointments beginning on May 5th!
Starting on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, we will be open for appointments on:
Wednesdays 10am -12pm
Thursdays 3:30pm -5:30pm
Saturdays 10am -12pm
You can register for your appointment by calling the library at 413-245-3518 during our staff working hours. Appointments are for 15-minute intervals. Computers may be used during your 15-minute appointment. We have built-in time between appointments to sanitize the library.
Curbside Pick-Up services will still be available for those that would prefer that method of borrowing materials.

BPL Scavenger Hunt

The Friends of the Brimfield Public Library, Inc. are hosting the library’s first-ever town-wide scavenger hunt for a chance to win $100!! This awesome event will kick- off on Saturday, April 10th, and run until Sunday, April 25th.

Anyone can play, but if you’d like to enter the contest for a chance to win $100, and help support the Friends of the Brimfield Public Library, Inc., you can submit your $10 entry fee by using https://unipaygold.unibank.com/customerinfo.aspx (click on Library Donations) or by dropping a check off at the library. Please make the check out to the Friends of the Brimfield Public Library, Inc.

Pick Your Blind Date With a Book Here!

The library is currently closed to the public, but we are still doing Blind Date With a Book this February! To choose your blind date, you can either browse through our book of “dating” ads that we’ll have available at the library’s front door during curbside pickup hours, or you can take a look at our virtual display of Blind Date books below. See one you like? Jot down the number of the book in the picture and just give us a call or email us at brimfieldlibraryrequests@gmail.com to let us know which book (or books) you want!

 

 

Food Pantry Collection

In a typical year, the library would have collected Food for Fines throughout the months of November and December for our local food pantry, but as with everything else, this year was different. Recently however, the Brimfield, Holland and Wales food pantry has asked for help from the community due to an increase in need from local families. From now until January 9th, the library will have a plastic tote on the front step the hours we are open for curbside pickup to collect non-perishable food items for the tri-community food pantry. Please consider donating if you can while picking up/dropping your library materials.

Gingerbread Decorating Contest

Buy a kit, make your own, use real candy or fake, a house, gingerbread boys and girls…whatever you like! The possibilities are endless! Families can work on 1 project together, or family members can all enter their own. Up to you!
Then email a picture of your project(s) to us at brimfieldlibraryrequests@gmail.com by Wednesday, December 30th, 2020 at 8:00pm. Voting will take place December 31st and January 1st via Facebook. A prize will be awarded for the winning creation. The winner will be notified on Saturday, January 2nd! Hope you can join in on the fun!

Story Walk

We are teaming up with Family Foundations 5! Join us on October 24th for a Halloween themed story walk outside on the library lawn. Sign up is required, please email Cheryl at: union61cfce@tantasqua.org to reserve your spot today. Space is limited and times will be staggered to comply with the social distancing regulations. Starting times will be every 15 minutes between 10am – 1pm. Hope you can make it!

6th Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest

We’ve made it to October 1st — time to talk about our 6th annual family pumpkin decorating contest! While it’s going to look a little different this year, we are still going to do it!
Buy a pumpkin, carve it, paint it, dress it up like your favorite cartoon character… whatever you like, the possibilities are endless! Families can work on 1 pumpkin together, or siblings can all enter their own. Up to you!
email a picture of your pumpkin(s) to us at brimfieldlibraryrequests@gmail.com by Saturday October 24th at 9:00pm. Voting will take place October 25th – October 31st via Facebook. A prize will be awarded for the winning pumpkin. The winner will be notified on November 1st! Hope you can join in on the fun!
