Ukulele Workshop
Join us for a Ukelele Workshop at the library on June 7th from 6 – 7pm. You can bring a ukulele or borrow one at the show. This show is for patrons aged 10 and older and is limited to 15 participants – call the Library at 245-3518 to reserve a spot or sign-up here on Facebook.
You can play and sing along to pop, rock ’n’ roll, children’s songs & more and learn about ukulele types and playing techniques. This event is led by teacher/musician/comedian Dave M.

Happy Birthday Toto!
Join us for a visit with one of the most famous creatures in Brimfield — TOTO!! On June 2nd from 10:30am – 11:30am, our very own tornado kitten (cat) is coming with his very own special person (Jonathan) to read us Toto’s book(s) and celebrate Toto’s birthday. Come take your picture with Toto and bring a cat related item (food, snacks, toys) to donate to ‘Here Today Adopted Tomorrow’ in honor of Toto’s 7th birthday! This event is free for folks of all ages. Space is limited to 25 participants so please sign-up here or by calling the library at 245-3518. Overflow parking is at the Town Hall Annex if the parking lot is full, please do not park in the neighbor’s driveway next door.
Babysitter Training Course
We are holding a 2-day Babysitter Training Course on Thursday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th, 2018. This course is for children aged 11+, and space is limited to 15 particpants. You must commit to both sessions.
Topics to be covered:
-Babysitting I, Safety- Police and Fire Department officials will discuss phone etiquette, dealing with strangers, responding to fires and other safety related issues.
-Babysitting II- Practice basic first-aid. Covers minor injuries, choking, cuts, bruises, poisoning and how to make a first-aid kit.
-Babysitting III- Discuss what activities are appropriate for certain ages, the Seven Principles of Discipline and common behavioral issues. Also includes “how to entertain” children and the business aspect of babysitting.
-Babysitting IV- Learn what foods are appropriate and how to feed a newborn, infant, toddler and pre-schooler. Thinking “safety first” you will discuss food preparation, servings, allergies and how to make nutritious snacks.

Monet’s Magic: Pastel Paint Monet’s Wondrous Water Lilies
Award-winning pastel artist Gregory John Maichack returns to the Brimfield Public Library from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 24th to present his new adult workshop titled, “Monet’s Wondrous Water Lilies.” This fun pastel painting workshop is designed for patrons from beginners to experienced artists.
Participants will experiment with hundreds of the artist’s professional grade pastels, pastel pencils, and pastel paper. All materials will be provided, and everyone who attends will get to take home his/her artwork.
Maichack is an experienced professional at teaching pastel techniques, as recognized by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), and hundreds of libraries and local cultural councils.
Seating is limited, so registration is required. Call 413-245-3518 or sign-up on Facebook! There is no charge to attend. This event is for particpants aged 15 and older.

Seed Saving Program
Guess what we are doing at the BPL?! A Seed Saving Program! All you have to do is come in take out a few seed varieties, plant them, cultivate them, enjoy the fruits of your labor and at the end of the season harvest the seeds and return them to the library for others to use next year. Who’s interested?!
